Roskilde University (RUC) is a state-owned university founded in 1972 with the objective of setting new standards in educational principles, by breaking with traditional university practices and embracing student involvement and critical thinking.

 

The characteristic educational principles of RUC are interdisciplinarity, problem-based approaches and project work in groups. The teaching experience at RUC has shown that interactions between specialized courses and project work produce the best learning experience. Studies therefore consist of 50% courses and 50% project-based work. The university is research driven and provides a strong link between research and teaching contributing to experimental, innovative forms and learning and knowledge creation.

RUC offers bachelor, master's and Ph.D. degrees in Communication and Arts, Social Sciences and BusinessPeople and Technology, and Natural Science and the Environment.
